Bridal Shower Extravaganza!!

So, last weekend my maid of honor and bridesmaids threw me a bridal shower! It was so much fun and so beautiful. Kristin really put a lot of thought and hard work into making it absolutely perfect. I could not have asked for a better shower than that. The food was really good and the cake was delicious! I love cake so that part was really important to me. :) She matched my wedding colors so everything was purple and burgundy at the shower.
I am so thankful for my family and friends that made it special for me. We got a lot of wonderful gifts and cards. Everyone shared a story about me, some were a little embarrassing. :) But for the most part they were funny and sweet! Overall, it was a great party! Thank you everyone!!
After the shower, me and 7 others went to see New Moon!! I purchased the tickets online the week before so we could make sure that we had tickets. The showing didn't start until 10:10 but we were there around 8:15 so we could make sure we got good seats and we did!! We waited in line for about an hour waiting to go in the theater but we were the 3rd group in line. Not to mention the fact that we strategized the best way to get good seats. Our plan was to split up, half go one way and half the other once we got in the theater and meet in the middle with the best seats. So....like dorks, we ran into the theater and got great seats....only to conclude that we definitely could have walked in leisurely because about 10 minutes later there was still good seats left. lol New Moon did not disappoint either! It was such a good movie and I want to see it again!
Also, this week was Thanksgiving. :) This is Jesse's favorite holiday so he was pretty stoked about all the yummy food and, of course, football. I started the day out by going with my mom and dad to watch my mom run a half-marathon at 8am. It was fun and I got some good pictures. She beat her goal and ran it in 2hrs 8min. Which is pretty awesome! For lunch, we went over to my grandmas to eat and visit with family. We had a great time over there. That evening we went to Jesse's parents for more food and family!! It was such a good day and we really have so much to be thankful for this year. Starting with family and friends, but also that we have jobs and can put food on the table. We are also thankful for our new home and love for each other. Next year has a lot in store for us I'm sure since our wedding is in January. :)

Jesse's 24th Birthday!

So, for Jesse's birthday on the 14th, we went to Buffalo's to watch the Gator game. Jesse actually won a tailgate party for him and 10 friends to go and eat wings and drink beer. He chose to do it on his birthday which worked out great. The Gators won and we had a great time! A few of us went back to our house and ate oysters and watched more football as well. Yay!
Also, on Sunday we had Jesse's family over to the house to watch the Jags game and eat lunch. We were planning on meeting at Olive Garden around 5pm but plans changed so we supplied the house and they supplied the food. (It was Olive Garden To-Go by the way..yum) It was good to see everyone. We hadn't seen Nana or Mikayla in a while so it was great to spend time with them. It was also Mikayla's first time to our new house and meeting Roscoe. She loved Roscoe and Max! She may have played with them more than she talked to any of us. :) I have some pictures from Jesse's Birthday as well as Heather and Alan's wedding that I am adding on here. The wedding was absolutely beautiful and turned out perfect. Everyone had a great time!

Starting the month off with a bang..

It's only November 7th and already we are busy busy busy. It seems that I say that a lot but it's only because it's true! Jesse and I both worked all week of course. I had Thursday off and that was a good thing because I really got so much accomplished. I was able to book the caterer for the wedding, order wedding favors, buy stamps for the invitations, and print address labels for the invitations. That was only the wedding things I got accomplished. I also went by the see Collin for the first time! He is so tiny and so sweet. When I held him, he didn't even cry. He opened his eyes and was just staring at me. He was probably wondering who in the heck I was but that's okay! :) Erin and Devin are extremely happy to have their new addition and it shows! They are going to be great parents.
I also went by to see Jen and Emma. They just moved back to Jacksonville last weekend and I am so happy about that. They are currently renting a house in Ortega since they were not able to sell the house in Auburndale. Emma is getting so big and she is so animated and funny! So far, everything is going well with Jen's pregnancy with Lola! Jen is one of my bridesmaids and she is due Jan 9th. Just before the wedding!
My family also had a bit of a scare on Thursday when Fort Hood had a shooting on base. Brad is stationed there now and it was very nerve wracking when we weren't able to get a hold of him. Thankfully, he called us when he got to a phone to let us know that he was okay. We are thanking God for that but also praying for the soldiers and families of the wounded and dead. It's sad that good soldiers that were still home on base had to die that way. You come to expect things like that when they are deployed, not that it makes it any easier to deal with, but to be home and have something like that happen is frustrating.
Last night, Jesse and I went to Heather and Alan's rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. The dinner was at Maggiano's in the town center. The dinner was delicious! Jesse is one of Alan's groomsmen. Today is the wedding!! They are getting married at Riverside United Methodist Church. It's a beautiful church. The reception will be at the River City Brewing Company. I hope to get some good pictures of Jesse all dressed up in his tux. :)

October

This month has gone by in a blur! I feel like it just started and now I am carving pumpkins and getting Halloween candy at Publix. Jesse and I have been super busy this month. We have had a lot of wedding and baby events almost every weekend this month. I had a bachelorette party for Heather on the 3rd to go to. We had a blast! The 10th I had a baby shower to attend for Erin plus Jesse had Alan's bachelor party that evening. I also walked Making Strides Against Breast Cancer for the American Cancer Society on the 10th as well. The 24th I had a bridal shower for Heather. Wow! Lots of showers!!! They were so much fun! Erin just informed me that she has been having contractions since 2am so it looks like little Collin will be here before we know it!!

Jesse has done a few things to the house this month. We put up some track lighting in the Kitchen which looks great! We also put a light on the house for the backyard. Maybe I won't be so scared to go out there at night now.... My parents brought over my curio cabinet that my grandparents gave me years ago. I was super excited about that and I have it in the living room. It makes such a big difference as far as making the room look full. We still have a lot of work to do. :)

We also had my dad's 50th birthday this month and my brother's 22nd! We had a surprise party for my dad at Sticky Fingers at the beach which turned out to be a great success! He knew something was up but wasn't sure exactly what. We had a great turnout with about 40 people that showed. It was great to see old and new friends and family. My brother is still in Texas so we weren't able to get together. I miss him a lot and can't wait to see him next. He won't be able to make it for Thanksgiving so next time will be the wedding.

This coming weekend we are having a party for Florida/Georgia! It should be loads of fun! We are going to have a cookout and watch the game mainly. I'm looking forward to it because it is always so much fun.

Busy Busy Busy

The finished Product :)

These past few weeks have gone by in a blur...I have put things with the house aside for the most part and I am concentrating on the wedding right now. I have a lot to do in the next few months. :/

Since the last update, I have bought quite a bit of stuff for the wedding. Also, with the help of my great friend Erin, who also happens to be one of my bridesmaids, we have toasting glasses for the reception!! Yay!! They turned out really good and I am so excited because not only did they turn out great but I also got to spend time with Erin before she has Collin!! Erin is due in November and she is having a baby boy! I attended one of her showers on Sunday and had a good time. A couple of her friends threw it for her and it was so much fun. They had yummy food and cake, great presents for Erin, Devin, and Collin, and great people. It was so good to see Tracie and Kendall again! Kendall sure has grown up!

Also, my other friend Stephanie got engaged yesterday!! It's so exciting because Jay, her fiance, let me go shopping with him for her ring and let me in on the plans. So, all day Tuesday, I was so anxious to get her phone call. :) She was so excited and out of breath when she called me, it was so cute! I am so happy for the two of them!

Mostly I have been working and if I'm not working, I am shopping or researching wedding stuff. :) I do have a lingerie shower and a bachelorette party to attend this weekend for my friend Heather. She is getting married in November.

Jesse has been working and watching football! Oh yes...it's football season people so I don't see much of Jesse anymore. :) He is a little peeved that I didn't opt for NFL Sunday Ticket through Directv when I moved our service from the apartment to the house, so Sundays are a day to myself. lol. He visits his friends that do have NFL Sunday Ticket.

It's been a while..

I haven't updated this thing in a while partly because we haven't had internet at the new house until last week! Thankfully, we got that all setup. So, as you probably know, I moved into the new house about a month ago and it' so exciting! We have gotten a lot done with a month's time and there is so much more to do. Being a homeowner is a lot of work. For now, I enjoy it..I'm sure that will wear off soon. :) Jesse and his dad did some nice landscaping in the front of the house that looks way better than the stuff the builders put it. They also put up blinds, fans, garage door openers, wall cabinets, pictures, and mirrors. The list seems to never end of the stuff that we need to do. For now, we are trying to be patient. It is very hard because I want to decorate and I registered for a lot of the stuff so I have to wait. It will be worth it though. I will have to take some updated pictures of the house since we got the nice landscaping.

I have gotten a lot done on the wedding these past few weeks. We have the tuxedos picked out and all the addresses in for the most part. Kristin has booked the place for my shower which is super exciting! There is a lot more to do but now that the house is done, I can focus on the wedding more. I will do my best to keep up with this!!

Another house update

I'm all moved from my apartment to my parents house! Thanks everyone for all of your help! It would have taken a lot longer than just a few hours if I hadn't had all the help. So, I am "settled" in at my parents. And by settled, I mean, I have crap everywhere and I am living out of bags etc. :) It's just temporary though because I found out today that we are closing on the house on August 20th!! I have to call the underwriter for the loan tomorrow and make sure that we have everything in that we need to as far as the mortgage goes. The construction is on track. We have a walk through on the 17th at 2pm and then another walk through on the 20th at 9am and then we close at 11am. Yay!! I am taking the 20th off which is a Thursday. I am going to work Friday though because it's the bank and Fridays are usually busy. I am going to have that weekend off though to get things together.

Jesse has thursday through Sunday off and he is going to get blinds put up and some other things he wants to do before I move in. We are so excited that it is almost here. It has gone by so fast!

Updates

It's official, I am moving back in with my parents tomorrow until the house is ready. ;) Tomorrow is the big moving day. Mom and Dad, Jesse and Timmy are helping me move. Thankfully, we should be able to get it knocked out pretty quickly. I will miss my first apartment. It was so much fun living on my own in my small, cute apartment. I am moving on to bigger and better things though and for that, I am grateful.

Jesse and I went by to see the house today and they have even more done!!! They have poured the concrete for the driveway and sidewalk out front. They have the floors in all the bathrooms, the kitchen, laundry room, and foyer. It looks great! They have also put on the countertops in our bathroom and put on the shower door. In addition to all of that, they put the shelves in all of the closets. They also have the front of the house prepped for the stucco. Jesse talked to Mike, the superintendent, and he said they will be doing that this week. We should be closing within the next few weeks. I can't wait!!

The cake business is going very well. I just completed an order friday night for Jesse's great aunt and cousin. They requested a Gator cake for Trey's birthday. It was fun to do. I also have orders to do a welcome home cake for my brother, an alligator cake for a double birthday party in August. Not to mention, the cakes for caylee's birthday parties. That's right I said parties!! lol We are having a family party on her actual birthday and then a big party on September 5th. It should be fun!! I am also making Jesse's dad a cake for his 50th birthday. Amanda and I ordered business cards and have been handing those out. The lady who took our engagement pictures is going to take a stack and hand them out to her clients. She does a lot of baby pictures so for their birthdays etc.I guess you could say, business is really picking up. ;)

Jesse has been working on getting plants and trees for our landscaping for the new house. He really enjoys working out in the yard and doing all that kind of stuff. This doesn't bother me a bit because as it happens, I do not like working out in the yard. :) He has been on craigs list and to all kinds of stores looking for trees and plants. Our yard will definitely be the best looking in the neighborhood!!

More pictures!!!

Pictures

It looks like I finally figured out how to put a slideshow on here so I am going to add another one while I'm at it. ;)

Updates

We haven't done much lately, just getting ready for me to move out of my apartment on the 31st of this month and checking out the house as it moves along. I have some new pictures of the house that I am going to post on here so everyone can see. It's really looking good. We are so excited for it to be finished. My apartment is a mess right now as I have boxes everywhere and things strewn about trying to figure out where to pack them.

Wedding plans are moving smoothly along as well. Haven't done much with it lately because I really have a lot done and don't need to do anything else until the date gets closer. I am trying to just slowly get things done in between work and the house stuff.

4th of July 2009

Picture of the House 6/09

Jesse and I at Animal Kingdom before it rained....again!
Taken at Kristin's after our engagement party.

Max and Roscoe on the 4th of July. They were smiling for the camera. ;)

My mom and I at Aunt Ruth's house for the annual 4th of July extravaganza!

Our 4th of July was great, although Jesse did have to work so I'm sure he wouldn't say the same. ;) I went over to my Aunt Ruth's to spend time with family as I do ever year on 4th. It never gets old. It's fun to see how everyone changes in only a year's time. The kids grow up fast! I remember going when I was kid. It is always so much fun! A pool for everyone to hop in when they get too hot and plenty of yummy food. There is always a ping-pong table and Volleyball net set up. Although I don't really participate in either of the events, it is always fun to watch. I hope the tradition keeps on when we have kiddies! After Jesse got off work, we went to a friends for a BBQ and fireworks! The food was great and fireworks were amazing. Who needs to go to the beach or the Landing when you have great friends who put on a show in their own backyard?? They even had a "grand finale." It was a fun time but a very tiring day for me. I went to sleep around midnight and woke up by Jesse calling me at 10:30 to make sure I was still alive because I normally don't sleep that long. :) We always text each other in the mornings to say "Good Morning" but mainly he likes to make sure that I am okay since I live by myself. He's sweet!

Sunday was a relaxing day. I didn't do too much but Jesse worked. After he got off, I met him at his house so we could check out our new house!! Things are coming along so fast. They have the drywall up so it's really looking like a house. ;) My parents met us out there to check it out. We are so excited for it to be finished. There are a few other houses being built on our street right not. We walked around in those just to see what they are like. No one has bought them yet, they are just spec homes but when our neighbors move in, I can say, "I walked around your house when it was being built" lol I doubt I will say that. hahaha Anyway, after that we went to my FAVORITE restaurant, La Napolera, with some friends. We had a great time. They are the ones that are moving in across the street so we were talking about house stuff the whole time. It was so much fun! Overall, it was a great weekend and its back to the daily grind tomorrow. Work is a little overwhelming right now. The new banking center is very different from my old one so it will take some getting used to. I have worked overttime the past 3 weeks. Good for the paycheck, bad for the body. I am so tired everyday after work that I don't feel like doing anything productive which is not good. Especially since I need to start packing since I have to be out of my apartment by the 31st of this month. yikes! I wish I could just move from the apartment to the new house but it won't be ready in time and I wanted to save that one months rent money so I am moving back in with my old roommates (my parents, lol) for a little while. Luckily, my old roommates are so sweet that they won't make me pay any rent while I am there! A few conditions, one being that I have to bring Max! haha that is always my mom's condition. "You can come over as long as you bring Max." ;) Well, I will finish up by posting a few pictures from the weekend.

Engagement Pictures/House update

Well, we are having our engagement pictures taken next Tuesday at the Cummer Museum. Yay! It's about time right? ;) One of my co-workers has a sister that is into photography so she is going to do them for us. She has been working with baby pictures and family pictures so I believe we will be her first "engagement" photo shoot. Her other pictures are really good. Bebe Prints is the name of her company. We are really excited about the pictures.
The house is coming along just fine. The windows are in and also the back sliding door. They delivered the sheet rock yesterday so I am sure they will be putting that in soon. We are getting the final items into the loan processor this week so we should be good on that end until closing. It's very exciting to see everything come together.

Father's Day Weekend

This weekend flew by! Here it is already Sunday night and it's back to the daily grind. I am starting at a new banking center tomorrow, so I am very excited to be doing that. It should be an interesting week for me at least.
On Saturday, me and my friend Amanda spent all day baking cakes for people who requested father's day cakes. We had so much fun. The kitchen was a mess but it was worth it. We are seriously considering going into business. We will probably just keep doing cakes on the side for now. Eventually we would like to open a shop somewhere maybe in Oakleaf since it is a growing community and halfway between where me and Amanda live. So, if anyone needs a cake, let us know! We would be happy to do it!
Jesse was working all weekend, it always seems like we have opposite weekends off. Although, this was my first weekend off in a long time. We both checked on the house this weekend, its coming along just fine. They have done the electrical work and also put the air ducts in. No huge changes or improvements this week. Our friends, Brandon and Kinlin Kirk, will be moving in pretty much across the street. They signed the paperwork last weekend. We are very excited for them, as this is their first home as well. We are also excited because that means we will be close!
Today, Jesse and I spent time with our families separately. My family was having a barbque and his family was too at the same time. :) We both had a great time though. Caylee was a little rascal just getting into everything now that she is crawling. It's hilarious. My grandmama was there and also my uncle Carl and grandpoppie. It is so nice when we can all get together like that, even if it is only for a couple of hours.

House

So, to start from the beginning, we are building a house here in town off of Normandy Blvd. We started the process on March 30th as far as deciding which model we wanted and putting down a binder fee. We are so very excited to have our very own house built. They started the actual construction on the house a few weeks ago, they were waiting on the permits before that. It is moving along very well so far. We have only had one minor issue as of yet. It actually worked out better for us! We chose a lot that we liked and then it turns out the cdd fees weren't paid on that lot yet like the guy told us they were. Instead of that lot, we got a better lot at the same price because of the mistake! Today, I received an email from our loan processor and she said we are within 60 days of closing so we can lock the rate anytime now, which is exciting. Our house is being built by DR Horton and we have been very pleased with them. Jesse goes out to the house nearly everyday to check on things. He is very excited about it. If I can figure out how to add a slideshow on here, I will add the pictures of the house on that. Jesse said this week, they added the duct work and the electrical work.

Engagement Party

Saturday, Jesse's nana threw us an engagement party. We had so much fun getting together with our families to celebrate. Everyone that we love was there minus my brother who is in Arizona right now for his advanced training for the army. We missed him and wished he could have been there with us. It was just a casual get together, we had Olive Garden for dinner, which was delicious. We want to thank everyone for coming and showing your love! We appreciate it!

Wedding

So, for those of you who don't know....we are getting married January 23, 2010!!! Yay!! So, we're not technically "the Midgett's" yet. We are very excited to be getting married. The planning has gone well so far. My mom, sister, and I are having a blast getting all the details put together. This is the 1st time any of us have really done this so we are learning a lot along the way. We are having the ceremony at Shindler Drive Baptist Church. This is the church that Jesse grew up in. Our reception is at the German American Club in Riverside. Jesse and I have been dating for almost 3 years in September. We have known each other since I was in 7th grade and he was in 6th. We were just acquaintences though all throughout middle and high school. After high school, I went away to college in Orlando, FL and when I moved back we met again through a mutual friend. After that, we started dating and now we're planning a wedding! Make sure you visit our wedding website www.mywedding.com/cherylandjesse Leave us a comment!! We would love to hear from you!

Our Blog

We have never "blogged" before so this is new to us. We will hopefully be keeping this pretty up to date with what is going on in our lives.
